Boca Raton (Fla.)-Based Pro Development Club Joins Southeast Conference

January 7, 2020 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce Colo Colo Soccer USA as a member kicking off with the 2020 Spring Season.

Based in Boca Raton (Fla.), Colo Colo Soccer USA will begin UPSL play in the Southeast Conference Florida South Division. The club will host its UPSL home games at Boca Raton Community High School (1501 NW 15th Ct., Boca Raton, FL 33486) in compliance with UPSL National League standards.

United Premier Soccer League Florida Division Manager Christian Vallejos said, “It’s exciting to welcome Colo Colo Soccer USA to the UPSL in South Florida. This is a club that is ready for the next step and wants to set an example for its youth players but creating a top tier men’s team in the UPSL. Colo Colo Soccer Academy USA is going to continue to grow, and the club’s decision to join the UPSL is a step in the right direction. Best of luck to Colo-Colo USA as the clubs prepares for the 2020 Spring Season.”

Colo Colo Soccer USA is comprised of former coaches from Boca Raton FC’s back-to-back APSL champions in 2015-’16. Colo Colo Soccer USA will compete exclusively in the UPSL.

Colo Colo Soccer Academy USA Founder and CEO Juan ‘Lolo’ Abarca said, “We already create a very solid youth soccer program and we believe adding a program for high school and college-age players is going to give more opportunities, not just for our Boca Raton community, but also to the West Palm Beach and Broward County areas. This will lead to more chances to play at the highest levels, and we think this is the right time to join the UPSL. We chose the UPSL because we know it is a serious league where we can be counted among the top clubs in South Florida, and help our young players gain exposure for their talents that they deserve.”

Marcelo Castillo is General Manager of Colo Colo Soccer USA. Pablo Narvaez serves as Head Coach. Santiago Mondragon is the Assistant Coach, John Garrish, Jr. is the Strength & Conditioning Coach, and Jose Rogerio Moreira is the Goalkeeper Coach.

Colo Colo Soccer Academy USA is a multi-tiered youth soccer academy for players of ages 5 to 15. The youth academy operates in both Boca Raton (Fla.) and Lighthouse Point (Fla.), and features more than 200 players with plans to grow larger. The club competes in the Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA) and the South Florida United Youth Soccer Association (SFUYSA).

The club will announce its upcoming game schedule.

Founded in 2013, Colo Colo Soccer USA can participate in the qualifying rounds for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation and membership with the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).

United Premier Soccer League

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 300 teams in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 500-plus teams targeted for 2020 Spring Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining either UPSL Pro Premier Division or Championship Division minimum standards.

UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
